Scout camp vs girls camp
Why are girls not allowed on scout camp? I dont know if it's just my area or if everyone just thinks girls are a bunch of sissys! Who ever decided we had to tie blankets? What about white water rafting? What about overnight hikes and sleeping under the stars? What about playing with fire? I mean, playing with fire is not to great of a thing but have you ever heard of funny, crazy, outragous stories from girls camp? I havent!!! Blanket making, bracelet tying, skit producing is fun ... but only a two hour hike for one of the days doesn't cut it for me! Why do we sleep in cabins? Why do we have showers? I must say I am glad we have toilets but I would even give that up for a week! So who decided girls had to be so sissy?? I would love to have a little chat with you.

I so agree with you. Everytime i try to get them do do something fun they say its to dangerous! What the crap, the boys get to do it. My last girls camp they couldnt even go do miles, even some of the leaders compained. They just all stopped. The only people who wanted to go on was me, my sister and the leader in charge and one other leader! LAME! oh and we had a pool. I wanted to go throw them all in a cold lake! I'll just have to dress as a boy and go!
ReplyDeleteWOOOWWW... ok. wow. I agree with you soo much. I hear about all these guys going repelling and stuff for mutual and then we sit there and make cookies? ha. Thanks but no thanks. I barely go to mutual because im NOT a girly girl. I can spend my time doing things that interest me. Thank you for this!! I dont feel so alone anymore.
ReplyDeleteScout camp is hammering these metal things into a piece of leather and earning a merit badge, going days without showering, and dealing with immature little kids so I don't think you're missing out too much on that. But I agree with what you're saying. How girls are almost subconciously held to this 'elegant' standard makes no sense.
ReplyDeleteYeah I can barely handle the 12 year olds, but you have to admit, somehow we remember the camp outs so vividly.
